What's new

To be honest, not a whole lot the past few months... I did celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary (yikes I must be getting old!) in January and my 29th birthday (well, maybe not that old) in February. I took some time away from the piano for a while to clear my head, but recently I've been getting the itch to start composing again. I'm now working hard on some new pieces and would really like to get a new album together by the end of this year. That's the plan anyway....

What a Storm!

On Sunday we had the worst storm that I have ever been through! It only lasted about twenty minutes, but the rain was coming down so hard that we couldn't see out of our windows. When it finally stopped, this is what we saw in our backyard:

Mystery Solved

So the mystery of how the New Yorker/ABC got my music has been solved. A third party organization -whose methods I was not fully aware of (my own fault) when I signed on with them- licensed my music to the New Yorker and didn't require them to credit me.. sucks for me, but hey I got a little exposure out of the deal!

UPDATE: The New Yorker has given me full credit for my song, both at their own website and their youtube page!

Did you happen to catch "Good Morning America" yesterday?

If you did, you probably heard snippets of my song, "The Storm Begins", while Diane Sawyer played video footage of the man who was stuck in the elevator for 41 hours. I'm not sure who made the original video, but whoever did it used my music! I'm not sure what to make of this yet. On the one hand, LOTS of people have now heard my song, on the other, NO ONE knows I wrote it!! So if you guys wouldn't mind, please help me by spreading the word that the song on the video (which is currently playing in it's entirety at newyorker.com) was written by me? Here is the full length video in case anyone is interested..

Turning 28...

Happy birthday to me! That's right, I turned 28 on Sunday. My sweet girls got me some beautiful roses and some candy. Then Peter took us out to lunch at my favorite mexican food place. When we got home, I was in the mood for a classic film, so we watched "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". It was a great day!

SL:MIMA update...

The winners of the "Swan Lake: Moving Image & Music Awards" have been posted and one of the videos featuring my music just won first place in the category of animation! The video is entitled "The Value of Love" and was created by Christian Hein. It's a great video and if you haven't seen it yet, please visit newagepiano.net and check it out.
Congratulations Christian on a really awesome job!

Here is a little news clip about the show...

SL:MIMA 2007 AWARD GALA
November 7, 2007

Over one hundred viewers from five nations , three categories and six smiling winners - that is in brief what the successfull award show of the Swan Lake: Moving Image & Music Award was about on the 7. November.

While doors went open at 7.30 pm in the Studio B of the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida there had already been the first audience wanting to get hold of one of the scarce seats inside of the hall. The original dinner gala with buffet quickly got a new motto: there is still enough space to put another chair in it. But this was only one aspect getting the viewers from different countries (e.g. Finland, Hungary, Poland and UK) closer together, not only in the literal way. The visual interpretation of new age piano tracks by artists from all over the world provided topics of conversation as well as the great two-man-band X-Jazz that featured a terrific combination of piano and e-guitar.

The felicitous atmosphere got his climax with the public voting. The winner of the audience award was determined by an "applausometer", an ambient multimedia system developed by students of the interactive media track at the University of Applied Sciences in Mittweida.

The great winner of the evening was Christian Hein who could take home the first price in the category animation as well as the public price.
